SUPPORTING ASSOCIATION OF SINGLE MOTHERS President of Palilula Municipality Boban Džunić, spoke with Biljana Jovanovic president of the Association of Single Mothers "SM" and Nenad Todorovic, president of the youth network of the Association of cooperation and partnership in project activities. This association of more than fifteen years successfully brings together single mothers and their children in numerous activities, training, helps in the realization of fundamental and human rights. "We are very committed to solving the problems of all categories of the population-emphasized President of Palilula Boban Džunić while meeting the authorities of the Association of single mothers. In particular, we pay attention to people with disabilities, sick children, elderly and sick people, elderly households in rural area, foster care of the household, displaced persons, the population of the Roma population. Also single mothers are our target group in our social perception and support. On the territory of our municipality works and i active also Safe House, which work is supported by our Municipality. In the area of social needs, according to statistics, of the total number of persons who have registered with the Center for Social Work "Sveti Sava" in Nis, over 67 percent of citizens in the municipality of Palilula. For the average earnings of working capable Palilula is at the very bottom of Cities and Municipalities list in the Republic. These devastating facts only warned us, said the president Džunić, in the conversation with the representatives of the Association of single mothers, in order to participate more strongly in the realization of the determined Vision of development. According to Biljana Jovanovic, the Association has 642 single mothers with about 912 children aged from one year old to twenty. In its activities the association is aimed at organizing educational workshops on female identity and women's rights; a playroom for children of single mothers; nursing and home help for sick and disabled members without compensation; organizing workshops for young people in order to safeguard reproductive health and health in general; training in various trades for Employment of single mothers and their children. |
